Analysis: No big surprises in Grammy album category

Beyoncé’s self-titled album, released with no advance fanfare in December 2013, has sold 2.125 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, with 823,000 of them this year. The album, which USA TODAY‘s Elysa Gardner called “a feast for the eyes and the ears” and a “revealing look at Beyoncé,” had videos to accompany each track and addressed such issues as feminism, motherhood and sexuality.
