Crisis books pay off for writers but not publishers

Former Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner was criticized for what was seen as his too-cozy relationship with the big banks when he was head of the New York Federal Reserve. His answer was “Stress Test: Reflections on Financial Crises” from the Crown imprint of Penguin Random House, which hit in May. The book has sold 45,000 hardcovers to date, according to Nielsen BookScan, which covers about 85 percent of the market.
