Downloads from Apple’s iTunes have fallen by as much as 14% this year, according to The Wall Street Journal.
It’s not only iTunes: digital music sales as a whole have been steadily decline since last year, according to a report from Digital Spy.
The cause of the decline appears to be the success of streaming services such as Spotify, which are eating into demand for downloads. Market tracker Nielsen SoundScan’s July figures showed the on-demand music sector had grown by 42% in the first six months of this year, according to Variety.
