With music being such a big part of the movie “Guardians Of The Galaxy,” it is no surprise that the soundtrack is off to a great start on the sales chart. After entering at No. 7 last week, the soundtrack, subtitled “Awesome Mix Vol. 1” (Universal), leaps to number one on the Top Albums chart, with 7,300 units sold, up 100% over last week. It is the second soundtrack to reach the top of the chart in 2014, following “Frozen.” It also joins “Frozen” as the only albums to reach the top of the chart in 2014 without debuting at No. 1. But unlike “Frozen,” the entire Guardians album features only previously released material, all hits from the 1970s.

Godsmack’s “1000hp” (Universal) is the top new entry on the Top Albums chart, debuting at No. 2 with 6,200 units sold. It matches their highest chart peak to date with their last studio album, 2010’s “The Oracle.”
