Names+Faces: NBC’s Emmycast logs robust 15.6 million viewership

The 15.6-million audience makes this the most-watched night on any network since ABC’s Academy Awards on March 2, when 35.2 million viewers tuned in.

Meanwhile, the Nielsen ratings company says the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday reached nearly 8.3 million viewers. That’s down from the 10.1 million people from last year when Miley Cyrus’ suggestive dance with Robin Thicke was a big pop culture moment. Still, the VMAs generated 12.6 million tweets while the Emmys had slightly more than 1 million.

The Emmycast, which aired from Los Angeles live across all time zones, was hosted by Seth Meyers.
