In the century since the Titanic went down, an estimated 650 books have been published about the tragedy — 98 of them, according to the authoritative Bowker’s Books in Print, timed for next Sunday’s 100th anniversary of the sinking.A major part of our ongoing fascination, of course, has been the A-list passengers, who are the focus of Hugh Brewster’s new “Gilded Lives, Fatal Voyage: The Titanic’s First-Class Passengers and Their World” (Crown Publishing, 352 pp., $26).
