When “The YouTube 15” began, it had plenty of hits by acts like Maroon 5 and Ariana Grande — stars whose songs dominate Top 40 radio already. But it also had artists like Mr. Ezra, who was gaining popularity in Britain but had not yet crossed over in the United States.
Sirius XM became the first radio outlet to put Mr. Ezra’s song “Budapest” into rotation, long before the singer had even begun promotional appearances here. The song has since sold 77,500 downloads in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
