Will Super Thursday save publishing?

Jonathan Nowell, president of Nielsen Book, a company specialising in book sales analytics, has offered some hope for British publishers: “The UK Book Trade has fought back in 2014. After an 8.4 per cent year on year print sales decline in 2013 (as measured by Nielsen’s Total Consumer Market panel), 2014 has seen a much shallower decline of just 2 per cent. The main influences have been the slower growth of ebook sales and the stunning sales growth in the children’s market: up almost 10 per cent this year. Other mature book markets, including the US, are witnessing similar trends.”
