Two legendary rock artists score their highest charting albums in the SoundScan era. Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ “Hypnotic Eye” (Warner) debuts at number one on the Top Albums chart with 12,000 units sold. It is their first chart-topping album in the SoundScan era and it surpasses the No. 3 peak of their last album, 2010’s “Mojo.”

Eric Clapton & Friends’ “The Breeze: An Appreciation Of JJ Cale” (Universal), which features Petty, John Mayer, Mark Knopfler and others, debuts at No. 2 with 5,100 units sold. His previous peak position in the SoundScan era was No. 3 with 2004’s “Me & Mr. Johnson.”
