Despite seven debuts in the top ten, overall album sales are flat over last week and down 4% over the same week last year. Year-to-date album sales are down 5% over the same period in 2014. Physical CD sales are up 8% over last week, down 2% over the same week last year and down 5% year-to-date over 2014. Digital album sales are down 9% over last week, down 7% over the same week last year and down 7% year-to-date over 2014. Digital track sales are flat over last week, down 13% over the same week last year and down 13% year-to-date over 2013.Track-equivalent album sales are up 0.1% over last week and down 7.7% year-to-date over 2013.
Barbra Streisand’s new duets album “Partners” debuts at number one on the Top Albums chart with 13,000 units sold. It is her first chart-topping album in the SoundScan era. Her previous high chart peak was No. 2 with 2009’s “Love Is The Answer” and it is her best one week sales total since 1997’s “Higher Ground.”
Chris Brown’s “X” debuts at No. 2 with 5,700 units sold. It is his highest chart peak and one week sales total to date. His last two albums, 2012’s “Fortune” and 2011’s “F.A.M.E.” both peaked at No. 6.
