WITH ONLY ONE ALBUM selling over 5,000 units this week, overall album sales are down 8% over last week and down 12% over the same week last year. Year-to-date album sales are down 8% over the same period in 2013. Physical CD sales are down 6% over last week, down 8% over the same week last year and down 7% year-to-date over 2013. Digital album sales are down 12% over last week, down 19% over the same week last year and down 9% year-to-date over 2013. Digital track sales are down 3% over last week, down 17% over the same week last year and down 13% year-to-date over 2013. Track-equivalent album sales are down 6.9% over last week and down 9.2% year-to-date over 2013.
The “Frozen” soundtrack returns to the number one position on the Top Albums chart for the fourth non-consecutive week, with 8,300 units sold, down 2% over last week.
Despite a 15% decrease from last week, Serge Fiori’s self-titled album jumps 4-2, and Johnny Cash’s “Out Among The Stars” holds at No. 3. The top debut of the week belongs to Black Label Society’s “Catacombs Of The Black Vatican” at No. 4 with 2,900 units sold.
