WITH FIVE NEW ENTRIES in the top ten, overall album sales are up 8% over last week but down 7% over the same week last year. Year-to-date album sales remain down 15% over the same period in 2013. Physical CD sales are up 10% over last week, down 12% over the same week last year and down 19% year-to-date over 2013. Digital album sales are up 7% over last week, down 3% over the same week last year and down 12% year-to-date over 2013. Digital track sales are up 2% over last week, down 15% over the same week last year and down 12% year-to-date over 2013. Track-equivalent album sales are up 6.3% over last week and down 14.1% year-to-date over 2013.

Miranda Lambert scores her first number one album as “Platinum” debuts at No. 1 on the Top Albums chart with 180,000 units sold. It is her biggest one week sales total to date, surpassing the 133,000 units sold of her last album, “Four The Record,” in its first week of release, when it debuted at No. 3 in 2011.
