DESPITE A BIG NUMBER one debut, overall album sales are down 2% over last week and down 9% over the same week last year. Year-to-date album sales remain down 15% over the same period in 2013. Physical CD sales are down 1% over last week, down 13% over the same week last year and down 19% year-to-date over 2013. Digital album sales are down 3% over last week, down 7% over the same week last year and down 11% year-to-date over 2013. Digital track sales are down 5% over last week, down 16% over the same week last year and down 13% year-to-date over 2013. Track-equivalent album sales are down 2.7% over last week and down 14% year-to-date over 2013.

The self-titled full-length debut album from 5 Seconds Of Summer debuts at number one on the Top Albums chart, with 259,000 units sold. It tops the No. 2 entry and peak of their EP, “She Looks So Perfect,” in April. It is the fourth largest one week sales total for any release so far this year, only trailing Coldplay, Eric Church and the “Frozen” soundtrack.
