With seven debuts in the top ten, overall album sales are up 5% over last week, but down 4% over the same week last year. Year-to-date album sales are down 14% over the same period in 2013. Physical CD sales are up 9% over last week, down 9% over the same week last year and down 19% year-to-date over 2013. Digital album sales are up 3% over last week, down 1% over the same week last year and down 11% year-to-date over 2013. Digital track sales are down 2% over last week, down 17% over the same week last year and down 13% year-to-date over 2013. Track-equivalent album sales are up 2.9% over last week and down 13.9% year-to-date over 2013.

Barbra Streisand’s duets album “Partners” debuts at number one on the Top Albums chart with 196,000 units sold. It is the biggest one week sales total for an album since the last week of July. It is her fourth chart-topping album in the SoundScan era and first since 2009’s “Love Is The Answer.” It is her biggest one week sales total since “Higher Ground” in 1997.

Chris Brown’s “X” debuts at No. 2 with 145,000 units sold. It is his fourth album to debut in the top two and is his biggest one week sales total since 2011’s “F.A.M.E.” entered at No. 1.
