With seven new entries in the top ten, overall album sales are up 2% over last week and flat over the same week last year. Year-to-date album sales are down 14% over the same period in 2013. Physical CD sales are up 3% over last week, down 4% over the same week last year and down 18% year-to-date over 2013. Digital album sales are down 1% over last week, up 1% over the same week last year and down 11% year-to-date over 2013. Digital track sales are down 1% over last week, down 13% over the same week last year and down 13% year-to-date over the same period in 2013. Track-equivalent album sales are up 1.0% over last week and down 13.4% year-to-date over 2013.

Slipknot’s “5: The Gray Chapter” debuts at number one on the Top Albums chart with 132,000 units sold. It is their second chart-topper and first since their last studio album, 2008’s “All Hope Is Gone.”

T.I.’s “Paperwork” enters at No. 2 with 80,000 units sold. It matches the peak position of his last album, “Trouble Man: Heavy Is The Head,” in December 2012.
