DESPITE FIVE NEW ENTRIES in the top ten, overall album sales are down 19% over last week and down 17% over the same week last year. Year-to-date album sales are down 16% over the same period in 2013. It is the lowest one week overall sales week since the second week of 2014. Physical CD sales are down 23% over last week, down 27% over the same week last year and down 20% year-to-date over 2013. Digital album sales are down 9% over last week, down 8% over the same week last year and down 13% year-to-date over 2013. Digital track sales are down 4% over last week, down 5% over the same week last year and down 12% year-to-date over 2013. Track-equivalent album sales are down 14.4% over last week and down 14.7% year-to-date over 2013.
The “Frozen” soundtrack remains at number one on the Top Albums chart for the 12th non-consecutive week, with 115,000 units sold, down 56% over last week, with more than twice as many copies sold than this week’s runner-up. It surpasses the two million sales mark in the 2014 calendar year.
